So wonderfully clean, I’ve never seen one in this white before, and it had a pale blue interior that looked surprisingly excellent.
The colour matched hardtop is a great touch, I love how it has buttresses going on too. There’s a couple MGBs running around with hardtops, but this is the only TR6 I've seen with one. I really want one of these....

Love the TR6, I’d have one right now if I didn’t need something reliable. Those bumpers though...

I imagine the big rubber things could be removed without too much trouble, but who knows

Phwoar! So manly.

Probably; we have a lot of US imports here (no rust and carbs instead of fuel injection), and they all have the rubber-free bumpers.

That sounds significantly preferable. I actually know how to deal with SU carbs, I wouldn't even want to consider whatever FI these were using

Time to check for rust - everywhere. It might actually be okay, though.

I have a bad habit of wanting cars that tend to be made of rust

Funny thing: while Europeans want carbs, USA forums are full of discussion about (E)FI conversion. The ‘I want what I don’t have’-syndrome probably.

The DANGER WILL ROBINSON locations on these are the trunk lids, the rockers, the areas behind the wheels, areas around the back of the cabin, and some portions of the engine compartment, IIRC.

Ha, yeah I imagine so. I mean it would probably perform better with megasquirt or some other EFI, but I feel like an old British sports car should definitely have carbs

That sounds right, I was looking into how bad an idea a cheap one of these would be and found a page showing all the problem areas. The gist of it seemed to be that 75% of the car is a problem area for rust, which got me off the cheap TR6 idea haha

Just wait until Dynacorn decides to make a full body shell like they do for ‘67 Mustang fastbacks. HURR

Mmm this is something that I hope happens. Otherwise I might have to attempt welding, and no one wants to see that

I’ve had a couple TR6's. Easy to work on. Parts are plenty and reasonably priced. Lots of Tech support. Loads of fun to drive...short or long-distance trips. Few things better in life than 2nd-to-3rd-to-2nd on some back twisty roads. It’s addictive. Get one.

Yes. Couple of Bolts and they’re history.
BTW...they’re called “Dagmars”.

Strombergs.

Top trivia: the TR6 was one the earlier cars to have fuel injection, which was fitted out of concern for emissions in its main market of the US.
The US never actually got the injected model.
Only about 8,000 TR6s were sold in the UK, less than 10% of the total, and there are still 4,000 odd there. But that’s not necessarily 4,000 of the 8,000.

Oh I forgot about Strombergs, I have no experience with them

That is some unusual and quite interesting trivia

Probably a wise choice. It’s an all-mechanical system with ITBs, made by Lucas, and as far as I’m aware, only ever used by Maserati, Triumph, and a couple of F1 cars. It is a real mechanical marvel, and works brilliantly when set up right, but is not terribly reliable or easy to work on.
My parents had a Triumph 2.5PI, which was essentially TR6 running gear in a 4-door sedan body. It was surprisingly quick on the rare occasions it was running right.

Nothing to worry about. I've worked on both, and they're almost identical. Exact same operating principle, just modified enough to avoid SU patents.

Easy stuff.

I’ve never seen one of those before, but I love how it looks. An early mechanical FI system sounds pretty cool but also somewhat terrifying, especially if it’s made by Lucas....It would be somewhat satisfying to have that working properly, though

I have a huge soft spot for Triumph’s family cars; enough so that I brought one over to the US ! It’s not a 2.5PI, though.
From what I’ve heard, modern parts have managed to eliminate many of the inherent design flaws in the Lucas PI system, and so long as you know what you’re doing, it’s not too bad. Very tuneable, too – the fueling curve encoded on a replaceable cam. It is, however, the only fuel injection system I know of that still has a manual ‘choke’!

That is completely fantastic. I remember you posting about wanting to bring it over, but I missed that one you just linked at the time. So cool, it looks really good.
Oh this makes it even more interesting....oh wow, yeah I've never heard of that either

Have you filled the “want” yet??

I wish, but space and lack of funds don't allow a fun car currently

No worries. At least you’re “..directionally correct”.
